Transport Manager
Based at our site in Saintfield, we are now recruiting a Transport Manager to maintain our Northern Ireland fleet, and work closely with our drivers to improve efficiency and reduce risk.
Position Purpose
As Transport Manager you will have overall responsibility for the performance of your department and Team. You will manage H&S, compliance, and continuous improvement strategies to achieve KPI and financial targets for your function.
You will be able to demonstrate experience in Transport/Logistics management and have a strong track record of achieving results.
Key Responsibilities

Leading, managing and motivating the Transport team to deliver on its strategic and Operational objectives.

Ensure the Transport department is fully compliant with all Licence and CPC requirements.

Ensure Health and Safety policy is consistently applied.

Ensure that unsafe behaviour is discouraged, promoting a zero accident and incident culture.

Store and analyse tachograph (analogue and digital) data to ensure strict driver compliance.

All vehicle tax, MOT, 12-week inspection’s, servicing, and tail lift and LOLER tests as well as any booking in for any ad-hoc repairs to be managed in a timely and efficient manner.

Oversee the loading process to maintain accuracy of load fill and ensure safe working practices are adhered to.

Track vehicle performance data daily.

Analyzing current routes to ensure cost effectiveness.

Report cost/ performance metrics monthly

Completing all appropriate paperwork to deadlines.

Understand and work to solve issues which drivers may experience.

Annually review existing fleet, specifying, pricing, negotiating, the purchase of new any replacement vehicles as required.

Ensure that fleet spend is within budget and cost effective.

Assisting with Warehouse to Wheels project.

Liaising with couriers where required.

Report any issues to Senior management.

Report on all KPI’s to Senior management.
Essential Criteria
-
At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role
-
Up to date National and International CPC/ HGV License
-
Experience with route planning software
-
Strong geographical knowledge of the North and South of Ireland

Excellent problem-solving skills
-
Good working knowledge of Excel
-
Experience of leading and working on projects
-
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
